For Engross, Icon is the firm’s non-legal service provider: brand and marketing, intake administration, drafting and redline production under attorney supervision, contract tracking, project management and technology.
Icon is not a law firm in the United States and does not provide US legal advice. It receives a fixed fee from the firm for its services and takes no share of legal fees. The Icon entity behind Engross is named in the footer.
Your lawyers

The firm is the provider of every legal service described on this site: it signs the engagement letter with you, it sets its own fees, it exercises independent professional judgment, it supervises all work product, and it carries professional responsibility for the advice given.

Why this way
The separation is the point, not a technicality.
In the United States, a law practice must be owned and controlled by lawyers, and non-lawyers may not share in legal fees or direct professional judgment. Those rules exist to protect clients, and we think they are correct.
So we did not build a legal services company that markets itself as a law firm. We built a law firm that is properly a law firm, and a separate operating company that gives it the production capacity, technology and international reach a small practice could not build alone.
What this means for you in practice: your engagement is with a law firm. It is covered by the attorney–client privilege, governed by the rules of professional conduct, and answerable to a bar. That is a materially different thing from a subscription to a legal technology product, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying.
